At age 35, Bernard is totally devastated by the lost of his long time best friend. For over 18 years, not only were they like brothers but they were also work colleagues and even shared an apartment for some time. Bernard sought professional help in order to help him through this terrible time in his life. While still working as a hairdresser, he then gets involved in the organization that he had himself consulted. He also volunteers to do active listening in group therapies and sits on the board of directors. After doing this for 2 years, he needs to expand his knowledge and for the next 3 years attends intensive specialized classes.

His specialties include accompanying the dying, helping people afflicted with AIDS and interventions with addicts of all kinds. He gives private, group and couple consultations.

For the past 13 years, with his partner and mentor, Jean-Pierre Duchesne, they run private retreats dealing with various life problems and issues. The atmosphere in which they greet the very various groups of participants is filled with warmth, respect, objectivity and a great openness of mind.

To this day, he is invited by other organizations to share his opinion and knowledge regarding relationships, AIDS prevention and many other topics.
